For the leader of the Sakai clan. Previously worn by Jin's father, Kazumasa Sakai.
― In-game description
Lord Sakai. You were destined to wear that armor in battle.
― Lord Shimura to Jin Sakai
The Sakai Clan Armor is an armor set in Ghost of Tsushima that is obtained by Jin Sakai during "Ghosts from the Past." It was originally worn by Jin's father, Kazumasa Sakai, and preserved at the Sakai Estate in Omi Village after his death. As the only child of the late Lord Sakai, Jin was originally meant to wear this armor during the Battle of Komoda Beach; however, he instead chose to wear the samurai armor of Clan Shimura due to his guilt for failing to prevent his father's death. Thus, the armor remained at the Sakai Estate under the care of the caretaker, Yuriko, and her assistant, Taichi. Jin would eventually reclaim the armor during his time in Toyotama before the attack on Castle Shimura.
The Sakai Clan Armor focuses on aggressive open combat by increasing Melee damage and health, as well as extending the Standoff Streak. Additionally, a successful Standoff raises the probability of causing enemies to flee. These effects stack with Charm of Inari's Might, increasing health and Melee damage by a massive amount.
When beginning the Iki Island expansion, the player will be locked out of all the Sakai Clan Armor dyes (except Jin from Yarikawa, which will use the tier I appearance with a Clan Yarikawa emblem on the chest armor), alongside both the Sakai Clan Helmet - Improved and Sakai Clan Helmet - Refined. This lock will be removed after completing "Massacre at Kidafure Village."
Effects[]
When equipped, the Sakai Clan Armor increases Melee damage and health, while also extending the Standoff Streak to a maximum of 5 and adding a chance to Terrify nearby enemies after winning a Standoff. As further upgrades are purchased, these attributes are improved.

Trivia[]
- Due to the Sakai Clan Armor being the only armor to have a maximum Standoff Streak of 5, it must be used in order to obtain the All in the Wrist trophy.
- If Jin equips the Sakai Clan Armor when meeting Lord Shimura to start "A Message in Fire," Lord Shimura will compliment Jin, saying that he was destined to wear it.
- While it was previously Kazumasa Sakai's armor, when obtained by Jin during his return to Omi Village, the armor (other than the Sakai Mask) looks drastically different than the one Kazumasa wore in flashbacks. The tier III appearance however, looks exactly like Kazumasa's.
- In some of the Memories of Your Father flashbacks, a young Jin Sakai is shown wearing the tier I version of the armor.
- If Jin enters the Sheltered Campsite with the Sakai Clan Armor before starting "The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai," the village inhabitants will run away from him in fear, preventing the player from starting the quest. One can simply switch to a different outfit to start the quest.
- The Ghost of Sparta dye is based off the design of Kratos, the protagonist of the God of War series. In order to obtain the armor dye, Jin must solve the riddle at the Shrine of Ash.
- The Shrine of Ash riddle can be completed by having Jin stand in front of the statue, equipping the Sakai Clan Armor, and drawing Jin's katana.
